Unfortunately I only had a few minutes to put in the laden sweet trolley just visible on the right, before it was whisked away!
The lovely and attentive staff did let me take a photo though.
The Chattri sits in an unlikely location on the rolling hills above Brighton and Hove.
It’s a peaceful spot to sketch, but I had to navigate several fields of frisky cows and bulls to get to it!
I took some time out from a very lazy stroll from Brighton to Lewes to sketch Ashcombe Mill, Kingston.
A finely dressed gentleman, out avoiding the royal wedding in his motor car, informed me that windmills with six sails are quite rare.
I prepared for sketching at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this weekend with Monika Zagrobelna’s really helpful blog post on how to draw horses.
Capturing these gorgeous beauties from life is a very different matter, but I fixed my eye on the prize and let the pen ride the page.
The ones that look like big dogs are Shetland Ponies. The others I blame on the champagne.
The tea tent was a gentle trot in comparison!

A gorgeous day for the start of the Brighton festival children’s parade which kicked off this weekend. Featured on the left are Patcham Junior School with Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe. Many headed to the beach afterwards – melted and exhausted!

The last week of my portraiture course. A single sitting in acrylics.
I’m definitely hooked, so watch out friends and family… I’ll be looking for victims… um I mean sitters!
You know it’s going to go well when you turn up half an hour early for your course and it takes you 10 minutes to realise.
Off to an impressive start, I proceeded to spill an entire jar of thinners and an entire jar of coffee all over the floor.
As well as all that, I also managed to finish portrait of Finlay, so it all worked out in the end.
Going to avoid jars for the rest of the day though!
