Antina (left) was not very happy about being sketched. Alfred (right) was indifferent. The Golden Egg looked on and judged silently.

Of all the many peculiar fountains in Lucerne, my favourite was outside Bistro Krienbrüggli.
The killer combination of dead sheep and creepy children dropping something (or someone) down a well.
There are 3 steps to heaven and 3 million up to the Museggmauer. It’s worth it for the views.
I couldn’t miss out the Spreuerbrücke, which is the oldest timber bridge in Switzerland. Completed in 1408 and washed down with a cold bier.
This majestic beast has lain wounded in the rock face for almost one hundred years.
It looks like I feel, after catching such an early flight to Switzerland this morning.

Why do you always temporarily close when I turn up?
Well I have the last laugh this time, because my sketchbook was in the passenger seat. Ha!

The not-for-profit Cass Sculpture Foundation, Goodwood is well worth a visit. It has an inspiring range of grand scale sculpture, set in peaceful woodland grounds. Bring a picnic and all your senses!
So many sketching choices, but I opted for Lynn Chadwick’s ‘diamond’.
